Cavalier Surf Shop has some of the best reviews for surf on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is a locally owned & operated surf shop, located on the Virginia Dare Trail (the beach road.) They provide surfboards, skim boards, boogie boards, and wetsuits. As well as accessories, and apparel. Surf lessons, and board rentals are also serviced at this little shop.

You will find Corolla Surf Shop in Corolla just north of Duck. Here you can rent surfboards, body boards, skim boards, wetsuits, bikes, and Stand-Up Paddle boards at a reasonable price. They even provide a trade-in service if you are due for a new surf board. If you think the two services above are great wait until you hear what's next. The provide an outstanding Surf School; 'safe, informative, and fun surf classes' for all. This 16 year old surf school was even mentioned in the New York Times and Fitness Magazine. Along with surfing, Corolla Surf Shop also provides Paddleboarding Lessons.

Island Revolution is located in Corolla. They host a skate park at this location, sell multiple types of gear, and provide surf lessons for ages 6 and above. Lessons go as follows: Two person lesson, Private lesson, and Surf safari.

The Outer Banks Boarding Company is another well known surf shop on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, located in Nags Head. Known for their apparel and accessories, OBBC also provides a daily surf lessons known as the FARMDOG surf school.

The Whalebone Surf shop is one of the oldest standing shops on the Outer Banks of North Carolina- it opened back in the seventies. They provide boards, gear, and multiple surf lessons.
