OUTER BANKS MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
NOVEMBER 08, 2013 - NOVEMBER 10, 2013Kitty Hawk or Nags Head, NC The Gateway Bank Outer Banks Marathon starts in Kitty Hawk, the half marathon will begin in Nags Head, near the largest sand dune on the East Coast at Jockey's Ridge State Park and both cross the beautiful Washington-Baum Bridge and finish on Roanoke Island. Shorter races are also available.

Meet at the designated time at the Creef Cut Wildlife Trail parking lot for a chance to hear the harmonious howl of this endangered species.Free Fall Saturday Howlings: No Registration Required November 16 - Full Moon Howl - 5:00-6:30 pm December 7 - Holiday Howl - 5:00-6:30 pm Important things to remember: Programs typically last about 2 hours. Bring a flashlight & bug repellent. Dress for the weather; howling will occur except with lightning, heavy rain, or wind or impassable roads. Decision to cancel will be made at least 1.5 hours prior to the scheduled program. Plan ahead! Creef Cut Wildlife Trail is about a 20 minute drive from Manteo! Do NOT bring pets.

Come to Island Farm as we interpret fall food traditions and share how Roanoke Island families prepared for winter during the 1850s. Some activities will include: hearth cooking, food preservation, candle making and ox-drawn wagon rides from 10am - noon, corn shucking and shelling in the afternoon. Bring a nonperishable food item and receive $1 off the standard admission. Goods will be donated to the Roanoke Island Food Pantry.
